Meanwhile, due to PVP having no brackets or zones, you will be WTFpwned if you even try to participate before maxing out. And with the current trend of AGS making the grind longer and longer, rather than add content, you might play for a full year without catching up. Whoever they are, they will be joining servers where people who no-lifed at launch are so far ahead that you’d need to play for a thousand hours to catch up. If you have neither of those things, then you have to hope that your limited playerbase has deep pockets to keep buying dyes.Īlso, who will repopulate the game exactly?
If you have a high player count, you earn more from the store. If you have a newbie-friendly game where you can have fun even a lower levels, you get more people to jump in. As I said, the game only sustains an income as long as new players are coming in and people are spending extra dollaroos on the store. WoW at least has a subscription to pay for server costs, but NW only has new game sales and the shop to keep the money rolling. Unless all your “chad pro-gamer gods” are also massive whales ready to whip out the credit card to buy any and all cosmetics/boosters coming to the shop, the revenue for the game will drop right alongside the player count. This is Amazon we are talking about, not some indie game dev ready to live on soup to fund their artistic vision. If you think AGS will keep the lights on when revenue dies down, you are in for a rude awakening.
